To mark the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Thailand, the Embassy of Italy and the Gift of Life Foundation present two Sunday classical concerts by leading Italian artists at Sala Sudasiri Sobha on Sunday and June 17, starting at 4pm.
The first show is a guitar recital by Antonio Fruscella, who will perform his own composition Children's Scenes, as well as works by Spanish, Italian and French composers -- namely, Miquel Llobet, Niccolo Paganini, Roland Dyens and Francisco Tarrega.
A graduate with full marks from the Conservatoire National de Règion of Aubervilliers -- La Courneuve in Paris, Fruscella furthered his studies at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, where he received a scholarship and obtained a diploma for superior musical performance.
Currently based in France, he is a guitar teacher and active performer with a busy concert schedule, playing as soloist and with ensembles at many festivals and concert series across Europe.
The second show, on June 17, is a flute-and-piano recital by Italian flautist Luisa Sello, accompanied by Thailand's leading classical pianist, Nat Yontararak. They will render a challenging repertoire of works by Mozart, Gluck, Chaminade, Donizetti, Rossini, Ponchielli, Bizet and Borne.
Sello is ambassador of music and Italian culture, with an exceptional versatility and enchanting charm. She has performed as a recitalist and chamber musician throughout Europe, the US, South America, Russia and Asia.
She's currently a tenured associate professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She gives master classes at the Universities of Koln/Aachen, Moscow, Madrid, Miami, Tallin, Zagreb, Peking, Shanghai and Buenos Aires.
Nat is a Steinway Artist awarded with two decorations of honour, one from the Polish government, the other recently from the Italian government. Known for his original compositions, he has performed extensively across Europe and the US.
There is no admission fee to either show but donations are welcome, to help blood-disease patients. The Sala Sudasiri Sobha concert hall is on Lat Phrao 41.
