San Jittakarn, a young promising classical artist, will show his technical dexterity in a piano recital at Sala Sudasiri Sobha concert hall, Lat Phrao 41, on Sunday at 4pm.
Presented by the Gift of Life Foundation as part of the "Thai Talents At Sala Sudasiri Sobha" concert series, the recital will see San demonstrate his showmanship in a challenging programme.
The repertoire features Scarlatti's Sonatas in D Minor K 9, A Major K 322 and D Major K 96; Chopin's Polonaise-Fantasie In A Flat Major Op 61; Debussy's selections from Douze Etudes; Gershwin's selections from The George Gershwin Songbook and Schumann's Etudes Op 13.
A former student of piano virtuoso Nat Yontararak, San has won numerous awards from national and international piano competitions, including second prize from the Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition in Tokyo, top medallist at the Maria Canals Piano Competition in Barcelona, and first prize from the Arthur Dann Piano Competition and Oberlin Concerto Competition in the US.
As a semifinalist in the world-renowned Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition in Brussels, the winner of international competitions was hailed by Belgium's La Libre as "an inspiring and visionary poet".
He has also won scholarships, including the Olga Samaroff Piano Scholarship, the Howard and Ethel B Ross Piano Scholarship and L&M Burle Scholarship during his study at Julliard, as well as the Charles Wellington Miles fellowship for his current study for a post-master's degree at the Yale University School of Music.
This autumn, San will be working with pianist Peter Serkin.
Tickets cost 700 baht, with proceeds going toward the Gift of Life Foundation to help blood-disease patients with financial difficulties and Chulalongkorn Hospital's Bone Marrow Transplant Club.
