"The 20th Panasonic Contemporary Painting Exhibition: For The Happiness Of Mankind" is putting on show a selection of 60 paintings at the National Gallery from today to Aug 29.
All of the entries are from the final round of the "For The Happiness Of Mankind" painting competition held a few months earlier. Its theme "Creativity For Wholesome Life" focused on the relationship between innovation, art and happiness, drawing a parallel between innovative development and the creation of art.
The exhibition is organised by Panasonic Siew Sales (Thailand) and marks the 20th anniversary of the competition and the 100th anniversary of Panasonic. The works comprise 16 winning pieces and 44 paintings by new generation artists from across the country.

Among the highlighted pieces are Surviving Monkeys, the first prize winner by Siriporn Petnet, a humorous call for wildlife conservation; Thai Ngom, the second prize winner by Ananyot Janaul, which deals with superstition in Thailand; Yes Or No, the third prize winner by Padungpong Saruno, which portrays the world of transgender people; and Anuban 2/8 by Weerayut Jaiwong, winner of the excellent award, a reflection on the artist's happy childhood.
