Lay Zhang, a member of South Korean-Chinese boy band Exo, will be back to the Kingdom with his first solo concert tour, "2019 Lay Tour Grand Line In Bangkok", at Thunder Dome Muang Thong Thani on Aug 25 at 5pm.
Presented by SM True, this is the chance for Thai fans to see the versatile artist with many acclaimed awards perform as a solo singer. The 27-year-old artist has proven his musical intelligence through his songwriting, music arrangement and music production in all of his own solo works.
He debuted as a solo artist in 2016 with the release of Monodrama which was a success in China, ranking number one on Billboard China V Chart for four consecutive weeks.
His first mini album, Lose Control, broke several Guinness World Records and debuted at number one on South Korea's Gaon Album Chart. It also received Album of The Year and Best Male Artist awards from the 5th V Chart Awards in China.
In 2017, his first studio album, Lay 02 Sheep, won Album of The Year from Tencent Star Awards and Producer of the Year from 2018 China Fashion Power Chart Awards.
Last year, he has spread mixed Mandarin pop (M-POP) to the world market with his US debut with Namanana, his second studio album. It was well received and ranked at No.21 on Billboard 200, the highest position for a Chinese solo artist.
Two months ago, Lay released a digital album, Honey, which features an English and Chinese version of the title song, Honey. The album had 1.87 million copies pre-ordered on QQ Music within three minutes and as of now 2.73 million copies have been sold.
The upcoming concert is part of his first tour, Grand Line, which includes four shows in China with all tickets sold out in only a few minutes.
