ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel is hosting an art exhibition, ''Mara'', a collection of 14 contemporary Buddhist paintings by budding artist Thanapon Junkasain who explores the concepts of right and wrong in society by drawing on traditional mythology.

In his first solo show, his acrylic paintings give the wonderful details of traditional Thai art blended with some of the most famous characters of Asian culture.

The exhibition is presented by innovative non-profit arts organisation Wai Art which has joined hands with Banyan Tree Bangkok to launch a series of exhibitions aimed at promoting young and up-and-coming artists by giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents.

Key to Wai Arts philosophy and the partnership with the hotel is to not only provide this opportunity but to ensure profits for sales of their works go to the artists rather than the galleries.

A small amount of the proceeds will also be donated to the hotel's Corporate Social Responsibility Fund, which supports various community projects in Thailand.
