The series features paint and spray-paint on canvases, described as free interpretations of George Orwell’s dystopian novel, 1984.

Published in 1949, this science fiction novel presents a futuristic world where society is crushed under the authority of a totalitarian government that controls the media and forbids free expression. The book highlights the dangers of a weakening vocabulary and ideas leading to single thought.

After his first black-and-white series “Step One” was exhibited in Paris, the 31-year-old artist has recently moved to Bangkok to paint live portraits against a background of a timeless and blurry city.

The exhibition’s title “Blackwhite” is a term from the novel that refers to the brainwashing carried out against dissidents in an attempt to make them accept a contradictory reality, for example that two and two make five.

“Blackwhite” is an opportunity to view reality from a critical distance. After its run here, it will go on to be shown in other countries.

The “Blackwhite” exhibition can be viewed in the lobby of Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel daily from 10am to 10.30pm during May 7—June 7. For more information, email sara.cazes@rockaroundasia.com or call 081-580-8750 (French/English) or 081-643-5007 (Thai/English).
