14 speakers from different walks of life and areas of expertise will give inspirational talks which are united under “Strive Forward: The World is Changing, Are You?” theme. President of Chulalongkorn University Prof Dr Bundhit Eua-arporn will talk about the Siam Innovation District, an open platform to boost, integrate and develop new ideas into meaningful innovation. Apirut Vanchaam, who’s behind a banking application designed for visually impaired users, will discuss why innovation without purpose marks just another gadget. Dr Nart Fongsmut identifies the importance of proper care facilities for the elderly in Thailand so all can age happily. If you can’t make it on that day, the talks will be streamed live via Facebook.

Simon de Jano and Matt Madwill, better known as SDJM, have teamed up to make many great tracks. The DJ duo from Milan is known for their breakout track The Heat (I Wanna Dance with Somebody) which received 15 million plays on Spotify in less than four months and was picked as the official theme song for Dancing with the Stars TV show. SDJM throws in their signature move of a live keyboard performance into their DJ set. They have hyped up crowds at numerous famous clubs and opened for big names such as Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Bob Sinclar, Dannic and David Guetta.

Alexander and Sebastian Schwarz, German deep house duo and brothers, will take over BEAM this Saturday. They have been touring Europe since the mid-1990s, performing at major events and clubs, especially in Germany and Switzerland. So far their DJ journey has taken them to perform at major cities across the globe from NY, LDN, MEL and now BKK. They will be supported by homegirl DJ Mendy Indigo (she’s pretty dope).

His mash-ups have also been played and shared widely in the Land of Rising Sun.

Move along to the funky tunes of indie pop/indie electro band STRFKR (star-effer). These Portland guys have had some much talked-about live performances which featured instrument swapping, dual drumming, stage diving and crazy costumes. You might remember their hit While I’m Alive from the movie The Fault in Our Stars; don’t miss it being performed live!

+ “Whose Line?” Improv Comedy, The Comedy Club Bangkok, Oct 6

Start your weekend with a hearty 555 session of improvised comedy. This type of comedy show was made famous by theatre sports, American comedy troupe The Second City and American TV show Whose Line Is it Anyway?. The performers will take suggestions from the crowd to create the scenes. It’s like cooking up comedy on the spot.

+ The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Creative Industries at M Theatre, Oct 6-7

Hopes, struggles, passions and an eclectic group of six-graders. All this spells out the hilarious Broadway musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Under the direction of Michael J Allman, Bangkok Community Theatre will be performing this entertaining winner of two Tony Awards. + Dean Live in Bangkok, Moonstar Studio 8, Nov 11

Dean, aka Kwon Hyuk, is a South Korean R&B singer-songwriter. While some of you may have heard of him just now, let us tell you that the portfolio of his young artist is very impressive. Besides writing tracks for many K-pop acts since the age of 18, he also has collaborated with many American artists since his US debut in July 2015, culminating in his first EP 130 mood : TRBL which dropped last year. With only one EP, he has already won several music awards in South Korea. Two more South Korean artists Miso and Saay will open for him. American singer-songwriter JMSN (pronounced Jameson) will stop by Bangkok as part of the Asian leg of his “Drinkin’ with JMSN” tour, with help from Have You Heard?. He released his latest and fifth album Whatever Makes U Happy earlier this year and previously lent his vocals to notable names such as Tyga, Kendrick Lamar and The Game. + The Shape Of Colour (Karma’s Solo Show), Future Factory, Oct 11-12

The much loved Karma Sirikogar is bringing viewers a multi-series exhibit of beautifully vibrant paintings, drawings, wall hanging sculptures, murals, digital art and projections. This solo exhibition is a result of three years of work into Karma’s experimental developments in abstract-surrealism. Her uniquely complex and vibrant visual language is suggestively inspired by the female anatomy, music, organic shapes and geometric urban structures. Karma’s aim is to hypnotically overwhelm viewers into a meditative self-reflective trance. All hail Karma!

+ Winds Of Peace, Chula Museum, Until Oct 24

Brought to viewers by the Colombian Ambassador H.E. Dr Andelfo Garcia and Chulalongkorn University, this is a contemporary art exhibition showing works by three renowned Colombian Artists, who are celebrating the end of a long war conflict in Colombia. Mario Ayerbe, one of the Colombian artists participating, has come all the way to Bangkok to present his works, from the southern province of Huila, one of the regions that historically suffered the most from the scourge of violence.

Every day life and the history of learning dictates that we control or limit our emotions. But what if emotion is the reason... for everything? Artist Jarasporn Chumsri reconsiders emotions through paintings. She delivers her expressions through semi-abstract forms. The processes are not fixed with reasons but follow the harmony of reasons and emotions, which are the core ideas of this exhibition.

A solo exhibition brought to you by The Embassy of Portugal in Thailand and the Portuguese Cultural Center in Bangkok, in partnership with WTF Gallery. Portuguese artist Rita Gomes presents works of her thought-provoking scribbles on colourful paper that illuminate a variety of observations of the absurdities of life, sometimes angry and always brutally honest. Check out the exhibition by French photographer Jessie Lie, who investigates the mystery and magic that lies behind the age-old Thai tradition of hand-tattooing ink designs on the body as well as intriguing portraits by Lop Buri painter Jirasak Anoujohn. In this exhibition, he expresses the philosophy and beliefs in Buddhism related to The Three Wise Monkeys. Did you see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil?

The city of Ninjago is the target of constant destruction by the evil Lord Garmadon (Theroux). The only ones who stop him are a secret ninja force led by Master Wu (Chan). Ironically, one of the members of this ninja force is Lord Garmadon’s own son, Lloyd (Franco).

Who’s in it?

What’s it about?

After his 16-year-old daughter disappears, Hong Kong police negotiator Lee Chung-Chi (Koo) travels to Thailand to search for her and will do whatever it takes to find her — even if it means being branded a criminal.
