Originating in the Netherlands, Sensation is an indoor music festival where everything is in white -- the attendees, the DJ's, the dancers, even the entire set design. The event solely focuses on trance music, however, in recent years it has leant towards house music. Sensation Thailand first took place back in 2012 at Impact Arena with the theme "Ocean Of White", followed by a second "Wicked Wonderland" theme at Bitec in 2014. Those who are interested in this upcoming third iteration can register at the website for pre-sale tickets.

+ Return to Pandora

Cirque du Soleil: Toruk -- The first flight / Impact arena / Jun 14-24

Guru's Weekly Pick: Feb 16-22

If you are a fan of director James Cameron's 2009 sci-fi fantasy film Avatar and are itching to go back to its breathtaking world of Pandora then world famous theatrical producer Cirque du Soleil's newest production is the next best thing. Titled "Toruk -- The First Flight", the production is inspired by the film that introduced filmgoers to the blue-skinned race called the Na'vi, bringing them and their fictional language and culture to life never before seen in a live theatre setting. The performance will take place before the events of the film. With acrobatic acts, epic score, extravagant sets and costumes, and large-scale puppetry, this is one circus performance that will definitely blow audiences away.

1pm, 3.30pm, 5pm and 7.30pm; check link for more details / Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani / http://goo.gl/dB426S / B1,000-B4,000.

The party is a 20+ event and prohibits attendees from bringing their phones into the venue. Staff will collect the phones and give attendees a numbered wristband in which they can use to collect phones after the party.

7pm-2am / Venue TBA / http://goo.gl/YoZ8ug / Early bird tickets at B400.

With 14 stories retold as old as time through ice skating, the production will feature 30 tunes from your favourite animated classics such as Hakuna Matata, You've Got A Friend In Me, and A Whole New World. Of course, it wouldn't be Disney On Ice without delving into the kingdom of Arendelle, as royal sisters Anna and Elsa from popular animated film Frozen are set to make a special appearance. You can never have too much of Let It Go can you?

Thu and Fri showtimes are at 2.30pm and 6.30pm, Sat and Sun showtimes are at 10.30am, 2.30pm and 6.30pm / Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani / http://goo.gl/qMGQQF / B600-B2,500.

Art

+ Artistic Evolution

Coronets / Thong Lor Art Space / Until Feb 20

Nakrob Moonmanas, a noted Thai collage artist who fuses classic Thai and Western arts, is having a new solo exhibition to showcase his artistic evolution. Known for his 2D artworks, he unveils his first full-scale installation, deriving an inspiration from Thai iconic headdress chada. The exhibition looks at the object as a physical embodiment of power and fantasy as perceived in Thai culture. The wearer bares its weight, which comes with a sense of dominating power. Nakrob, whose artist name is stylised as Nakrob/moon/mars/nut, turns the revered object into a contemporary art object on display (and, hopefully, no one will get offended in the process). Free admission.

1-8pm / Thong Lor Art Space, Thong Lor / http://fb.com/Thonglorartspace, 095-924-4555.

+ Snakes in Gallery

Ouroboros Ngu- Kin - Hang / Bridge Art Space / Until Mar 9

Guru's Weekly Pick: Feb 16-22

Four Thai artists -- Torwong Wutthiwong, Phornphop Sittirak, Prasert Yodkaew, Satit Raksasri -- look to their memories that always end up in a cycle as their inspiration, hence, the group exhibition's name. Torwong turn bits and bobs into keepsakes that triggers thoughts of the past. Phornphop explores lives stuck and manipulated in an inescapable propaganda. Prasert conveys that nightmares are easier to recollect than other kinds of dreams and the feeling of being trapped through his works. Lastly, Satit questions the idea of not being heard even when you scream at the top of your lungs.

10am-8pm, closes on Tue, opens until 6pm on Sat / Bridge Art Space, Charoen Krung 51 / http://fb.com/bridgeartspace, 089-666 -2051.

+ Second Skin

The Secret of Skin / MOST Gallery / May 30

Sophirat Muangkum's photo exhibition highlights nude photography and what lies under the skin. Sophirat, the only known Thai female nude photographer to the best of our knowledge, features tastefully done pictures of people in their birthday suits in different landscapes. Viewers are welcome to use their own feelings and judgement to discern what these pictures are trying to say. Her pictures have been exhibited at leading art venues in Bangkok and published by foreign magazines such as Vogue Italia and KALTBLUT from Berlin.

By appointment only / MOST Gallery, Charoen Krung 26 / http://fb.com/mostgallerybkk, 02- 639-6582.

+ Nature & Human Nature

ROOTS of Awareness / Kalwit Studio & Gallery / Until Mar 24

Three artists -- Thanan Klintapaneeyakul, Jiranapa Jitrsujarit, Kummoon Polsri -- reflect the everyday life in society, religion and Thai way of life in this exhibition. They delve into human's perception of nature and human nature and how it serves like the root of a tree from which we grow.

Tue-Sat 10am-6pm / Kalwit Studio & Gallery / Ruam Rudi 2, Witthayu Road / http://fb.com/kalwitgallery, 092-595-2951, 02-254-4629.

+ Different Shades of Girl with a Pearl Earring

Pearl Earring / House of Lucie / Until Feb 28

Guru's Weekly Pick: Feb 16-22

Forgive our lame pun but it captures Dasha Matrosova's latest exhibition "Pearl Earring" to a degree. Johannes Vermeer's famous painting Girl with a Pearl Earring serves as a catalyst for this exhibition. The seemingly ordinary portrait hides a sense of mystery and leaves many lost in thoughts. Who was she? Did Vermeer dress his maid with the scarf and the earring to give an illusion of luxury?

Tue-Fri 11am-6pm, Sat noon-5pm / House of Lucie, Ekamai Soi 8 / http://fb.com/HouseofLucie, 095-478-9987.

+ Unsung Heroes

Inspiro / S.A.C. Subhashok The Arts Centre / Until Mar 11

Inspiro, Latin for "to inspire", pays a tribute to everyday heroes. Surapong Sudasna Na Ayudhya believes the beauty of humankind is to live fairly and equally while inspiring each other. At one of his lowest points, the artist was inspired by labourers who are underappreciated by the society because of their dirty jobs. He admires them for the hardship they face and turn that into fuel for his artistic creation. This is a continuation of this artist whose muse is the grassroots since his first solo exhibition "Hero" in 2015. Inspiro features paintings, sculptures and installations.

Tue-Sat 10am-5.30pm, Sun noon-6pm, closes on Monday / S.A.C. Subhashok The Arts Centre, Sukhumvit 39 / http://fb.com/sacbangkok, 02-662-0299.

+ Ladder to nowhere

The Broken Ladder / Gallery VER / Until Mar 31

This conceptual art exhibition by Wantanee Siripattananuntakul explores home and the sense of belonging to society through 3D and video mediums. She delves deep into the inequality as not all can afford home and how autocratic alchemists turn soil into gold and the politics that goes with it. The opening reception takes place on Feb 25 at 6pm.

Wed-Sun, noon-6pm / Gallery VER, Sathu Pradit 15 (Narathiwas 22) / http://fb.com/galleryver, 02-103-4067.
