Beauty pageants are hotter than ever this month as different contests now take turn sharing the spotlight. Joining the list of ongoing pageants in the country is Miss Thailand World 2019, which will be officially launched this weekend to select the best candidate to win big on the international stage.
At a recent press conference, Channel 3, BEC Tero Entertainment and Stardom Asia announced their intention to seek women aged 16 1/2 to 26 of great beauty, aptitude, attitude, and voluntary spirit to represent Thailand at Miss World 2019, which will be held at the end of the year. Their aim is clear, with their sights set on bringing home the first ever Miss World crown.
No Thai woman has ever won this prestigious title before, and the closest we've come to it was last year when Miss Thailand World 2018 Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan was announced as the first runner-up, as well as the title of Continental Queen of Asia.
And so the quest for the first crown is on. Online registration is now open for this year's competition at missthailandworld.net. Applicants must register online before bringing all their documents and submitting them at the pageant this Saturday at the Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, from 10am-6pm. Application is open for one day only.
After getting their documents approved by the pageant, applicants will proceed to the interview with the judges on the same day, in which 60 applicants will advance to the next round.
The second round of selection will see 48 women undergoing a competition that is adapted from the Miss World's Head to Head challenge where each contestant will get to show their public-speaking skills. This round will determine the final 24 contestants, who will be officially unveiled later this month at another press conference.
Following this, the contestants will undergo different activities and training when eventually one of them will be crowned Miss Thailand World 2019. They will be under the coaching of Nicolene, who will be working closely with the contestants throughout the selection process.
The pageant will also head to Khao Yai to participate in reforestation activities, as well as visiting children and senior citizens in rural areas. They now accept donation of stationery, sports equipment, clothes and shoes for children. Donors can bring items to the PR department on the 26th floor of Maleenont Tower on Rama IV to join the cause.
The final round of Miss Thailand World 2019 will take place at the Palladium Hall of the Berkeley Hotel Pratunam on Aug 3.
