Fans of Elvis Presley must have been counting down for what is said to be the greatest Elvis Presley show in Bangkok.
Presented by AJM Group, "The Legend Of Elvis In Legacy Of 42" will see two of the world's most celebrated Elvis impersonators -- Rob Kingsley from the UK and Tim Welch from the US -- sharing the stage in a concert scheduled for Nov 17 at 2pm. The venue is TOT Auditorium Hall, Chaeng Wattana Road.
Having dedicated himself to faithfully reproducing the legendary King of Rock 'n' Roll's live performances, Kingsley was the European champion at the largest official Elvis competition in 2008 and also the first Elvis tribute artist to perform live at the new Wembley Stadium, Hyde Park London, and many prestigious theatres and venues in the UK and worldwide.
Welch, meanwhile, has been performing as Elvis across the US and around the world for nearly 20 years and his Tim Welch Show has been hailed as the most honest, tasteful, exciting and professional Elvis show in the US.
The upcoming concert will also feature Thailand's very own Elvis impersonators including Jeerasak Pinsuwan, Vasu Sangsingkeo, Jaruek Viriyakit, Arthur Husain, Elvich Phatihatakorn, Waming El' and Satawat Tungarat. They will don extravagant jumpsuits, performing a selection of songs from movies, as well as hit songs from the 50s to the 70s.
Another highlight for this year will be what is said to be Asia's only exhibition that gives fans the chance to get up-close with authentic Elvis memorabilia and collectibles on loan from collectors from around the world. The exhibition will be held on the same premises as the concert, on Nov 16 and 17, 10am-8pm.
Exclusively on Nov 16, interested people are invited to witness the final round of the Elvis Presley singing contest starting at 1pm and also a talk with a movie guru at 3pm. They will get to learn more about Elvis as an actor, particularly his lead role in King Creole (1958), which has been praised as Elvis' best movie.
Tickets for the concert cost 900, 1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 baht, and can be purchased from Counter Services at all branches of 7-Eleven and allticket.com. Admission to the exhibition is 300 baht per day (free for holders of concert tickets). There is no admission fee to the singing contest and the talk on Nov 16.
