Thai agricultural products will take centre stage during the "Smart & Strong Together" fair which will kick off tomorrow and run until SundayAug 30, daily from 10am to 8pm. The venue is Impact Exhibition Hall 9-10, Muang Thong Thani.
Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives' Department of Agricultural Extension, the second edition of the agricultural fair is open to business people, entrepreneurs and interested members of the public to come and witness the progress of Thai agriculture and learn how it can compete on the world stage.
This will be a chance to meet and discuss with farmers from across the country who have been working under six royally-initiated projects. They include members of the Large-Scale Farming group who have developed their products for export and those from the Young Smart Farmer group whose success stories can inspire many others to turn to farming.
Many hi-tech innovations for farming will be showcased and up to 28 practical vocational workshops will also be presented free of charge. Among them will be cooking sessions covering recipes such as rice noodles with mushroom curry paste and lessons on how to make a pandan garland and breed a cactus.
The highlight, however, will be the gathering of 1,000 items of agricultural products of premium quality that contribute to the reputation of Thai food, which is famous around the world.
They include fresh and organic produce from all provinces in Thailand and a variety of processed foods, namely tilapia fish floss from Nong Bua Lam Phu; pickled fish sticks from Nakhon Ratchasima; fermented fish powder cake from Amnat Charoen; and freeze-dried rambutan from Chumphon. Also featured will be signature ready-to-eat dishes from many provinces, healthy food and innovative food products.
More than 100 shops will also bring textiles and clothing produced by farmer housewife groups from Trang, Nan, Lamphun and Lop Buri.
Another attraction will be a spectacular display of various types of orchids, ornamental plants and air-purifying plants.
Besides business matching sessions which will provide farmers more channels to sell their products, there will also be many activities offering agricultural knowledge, counselling services, plant clinics and cooking demonstrations by famous chefs, as well as mini-concerts by leading artists.
