T he sun has started to bear down a little more heavily these days. Brief walks to the 7-Eleven are starting to result in sweaty shirts. The cool, billowing breeze from an AC turned down to 10C degrees is starting to feel a little more pleasant than before. Brace yourselves: the onset of summer is here. What better way to alleviate the summer heat than perhaps a cool, refreshing dessert? Okay, ice cream is great no matter what season (I'd eat it even if it was winter. Then again, Bangkok doesn't really have "winter"). But you know what's better than delectable ice cream during the ridiculously hot Bangkok summer? Delectable ice cream that's delivered right to your doorstep during the ridiculously hot Bangkok summer! Here are some cool ice cream places you can order from to give you some sweet, delicious summer relief.
Molto Premium Gelato
It's possible you've already seen Molto Premium Gelato floating about in your socials, but if you haven't, give them a search and you'll be greeted by some of the most mouth-watering pictures of ice cream you've ever seen. The good news is that they taste as good as they look. They tout themselves as "premium" and that's no joke: a spoonful from one of their pints proves that their flavours and ingredients are high-quality. In other words, it's dang good ice cream. As a chocolate fan, I couldn't resist digging into the Chocolate dark night immediately and it didn't disappoint. The balance of sweet and bitter that you find in dark chocolate was there, as well chocolate bits that give the ice cream a little bit of crunch. The Strawberry cheesecake was a great alternative and provided something sweeter and fruity. Plus, the crumbs on top don't only just give the ice cream a contrasting texture but also makes it feel as if you're truly eating a cheesecake. Molto has new promotions and special flavours every month so be sure to follow their socials to be up to speed.

Lay Low
Ice cream isn't exactly something you should be eating when you're on a diet or you want to lose weight. But not eating ice cream is torture and an ice cream-less life is not a hell I would wish on anyone. How then do you continue eating ice cream while also making sure it doesn't pile on the calories? Lay Low has a solution. Two of the three partners that opened Lay Low worked in the kitchen of a Michelin-starred restaurant in London and they are the ones who make the 18 different dairy flavours and six vegan flavours for the shop, resulting in ice cream that you can enjoy entirely guilt-free. Their Salted caramel honeycomb is a personal favourite with a mixed texture of crunchy and creamy. The Chewy peanut butter is another star, which is a flavour that will make you doubt whether this truly is a low-calorie dessert just because it tastes so good. If you're looking for some guilt-free dessert snacking, congrats. You've found it.

Wavy BKK
Wavy BKK's ice cream is evidence that it was aptly named. A simple glance at their FB or IG feed gives you a glimpse into some of their delectable creamy treats that look like ocean waves of different flavours tempting you to buy a pint -- or two or three. They just opened at the beginning of the year by an American guy and a Thai girl who wanted to combine flavours from the US and make affordable ice cream but still use high-quality products. The result? A collection of delicious flavours that cater to your taste and liking. Their bestseller is the Biscoff cookie yoghurt, which uses real imported Biscoff cookies and Biscoff spread from Belgium for that crunchy texture and cookie flavour but also has that sour taste thanks to the yoghurt. For something more fruity, their Yuzu flavour is a tangy delight, while the Strawberry cheesecake yoghurt is when you're feeling a little extra indulgent and want to spoil yourself.

Veganisto
The idea of vegan ice cream may sound contradictory to some but you have to understand that "vegan" doesn't equal "flavourless". I say this because this was the thought I had when trying out Veganisto. When someone mentions "healthy ice cream", I can't help but think that the taste will somehow suffer. However, using coconut milk as a base for their ice cream and coming up with creative ways to create their flavours in a vegan-friendly manner, Veganisto has concocted a number of delicious treats that are great for a hot summer day. Despite being plant-based, the ice cream they produce is smooth, creamy and tasty. It would have fooled me into thinking it was just a normal ice cream if I didn't know it was vegan beforehand. Although they just opened about a month ago, they've already got flavours that are crowd favourites like their tangy Lemon cheese pie flavour and the rich and utterly decadent Chocolate brownie. Honestly, you can't go wrong with whatever flavour you choose, and I'm glad that Veganisto is around not just as a plant-based option for ice-cream, but a delicious plant-based option for ice cream at that.

Icedea
Have you ever wondered what it's like to stare into the adorable eyes of a dog made out of ice cream before you bite off its ear? Just me? Well, Icedea has made that possible with its collection of creative ice creams that come in many shapes and sizes -- and I do mean many shapes and sizes. Their cat and dog ice creams are eerily lifelike at a glance but a closer look will put you at ease when you realise that the Dalmatian on a stick in your hands is actually double cookies 'n' cream. And it's not just a visual gimmick either -- these dog and cat-shaped ice creams are a tasty treat. Icedea's other quirky collection is fruit-shaped ice cream so you get the likes of durian, mangosteen, the popular combo of mango and sticky rice and even corn (yes, corn is a fruit, fight me). Unlike its animal counterparts though, these actually taste like what they look like: if you bite into that mango and sticky rice, that's exactly what you're going to taste. It's a good thing Icedea kept this idea solely for the fruit and didn't do it with the animals because no one wants to know what a husky tastes like. If you do, please seek help.

Poptales Ice Cream Factory
At first glance, Poptales Ice Cream Factory seems to be just another ice cream shop in the vast array of ice cream shops that are ready to satisfy your dessert cravings. Poptales does have delectable flavours that are ready for you to enjoy like the Vanilla Madagascar, which is smooth, creamy and utterly addictive. They also have ice cream bonbons that you can get in an elegantly-designed box that contains nine different bonbon flavours. But Poptales' shining achievement is their alcohol-infused ice cream. Yes, they're serving up ice cream that has alcohol in it so there's no need for you to be hogging a pint of chocolate chip while sipping some wine anymore. The Twisted lychee mojito is a great mix of tangy and fruity for those that want a bit of a sour kick, but my favourite would have to be the Kahlua milk. Coffee ice cream is great already so alcoholic coffee ice cream is even better. They've also got other alcoholic flavours like Dark oak barrel rum raisin and Classic gin tonic.
