Siam Paragon has joined hands with top hotels in Bangkok to launch the "Siam Paragon World Class Mooncake Festival 2021" on the OneSiam Ultimate Chat and Shop e-shopping website.

The Moon Festival this year falls on Sept 21. The mooncake is a traditional Chinese dessert baked for celebrating the mid-autumn festival, or harvesting season.

Its history dates back more than 3,000 years when Chinese emperors worshipped the Harvest Moon for a great yield the following year.

The date was selected as the Full Moon day of the eighth Chinese lunar month.

Worshipping the Moon became a tradition practised by courtiers and commoners alike. They had celebrations to admire the Moon and also made mooncakes in a round shape to represent the Harvest Moon.

In addition, the circular shape is also a symbol of unity. The mooncake and its festival reminds Chinese people to return home to share and eat with their families.

In the past, the dessert was stuffed with simple things like sweet lotus paste and salted egg yolk as a symbol of the Harvest Moon. Today, choices of fillings are aplenty such as durian paste, custard, Yuzu orange mixed with macadamia nuts, purple yam paste and pandan paste with shredded coconut.

If you want mooncakes as a gift for your family or friends, you do not have to shop around. Visit the online "Siam Paragon World Class Mooncake Festival 2021" campaign and select your mooncakes from top 5-star hotels.

Participating hotels include Anantara Siam Bangkok, Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, Shangri-La Bangkok and the St. Regis Bangkok. Discounts are also available on the website.
