Passion and Peace are the themes for this year's spring concert by the Bangkok Combined Choir and Orchestra (BCCO), which will take place in the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, on Sunday, at 7pm.
The "BCCO Spring Concert 2024: From Passion To Peace" will feature a carefully curated selection of sacred and classical compositions from the legends such as Mozart, Vivaldi and Beethoven.
The evening promises to be an unforgettable experience, guiding the audience through an intricate interplay of the two words in human's lives -- the trials and the tribulations through the biblical and worldly lens, our intense fervour and zeal, and the transcending power of mankind's unwavering faith and music that brings peace, joy and harmony onto Earth.
Coinciding with Easter season, the evening offers a unique opportunity for BCCO to showcase an array of masterpieces meticulously chosen to depict the word Passion -- ranging from the anguish of Jesus Christ (The Passion of Christ, as narrated in Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus and Vivaldi's Et Resurrexit From Credo) to the paralleled tragic story in Beethoven's Coriolan Overture that reflects myriad intense emotions and experiences encountered in our journey through life.
The concert will also delve into the theme of Peace. Through the melodic lines of Vivaldi's Gloria, audiences will experience a prayerful ode to God and His Prince of Peace, encapsulating the essence of divine tranquillity.
Furthermore, Beethoven's Choral Fantasy will serve as a testament to the unparalleled beauty and transformative power of music as a force for unity and joy within society. This piece celebrates music's capacity to foster harmony and peace, underscoring its significance as a vital medium for societal cohesion and happiness.
The evening will see the return of Nat Yontararak, one of Thailand's most esteemed pianists, and soloists Barbara Zion and Jenny Onyu Park, with the ensemble led by distinguished conductor Charunee Hongcharu.
There is no admission fee but donations to support the BCCO's endeavours are welcome.
