How many times have you shown up at a hangout in your workout get-up because you’ve hit the gym before or plan to after?
We just can’t help loving the comfort and convenience of sportswear, and with athletic brands upping their games in the looks and performance departments this season, we’re tempted to quit “normal” clothes altogether.
Take Adidas’s extended collaboration with rapper Pharrell Williams. In March, we had trouble deciding which shade of the Supercolor shoes collection we most wanted (we couldn’t afford to buy all 50 pairs). This month, the Pharrell and Adidas mash-up is back, taking inspiration from The Baes, the female singers and dancers who turn up the volume of Pharrell’s live performances.
The “Adidas Original Dear Baes Tour Pack” represents the individuality of each of the girls, celebrating fun and movement. The collection features various types of sportswear, -- crop tops, running shorts, training jackets -- in playful prints of a bright colour on black.
What we love about collection is its variation. You’re sure to find a colour you like and a cut that suits your body and style. You’re also more likely to admire the way someone else wears a piece than think, “B*tch stole my look”. And that’s a green light.
Unless you are an edgy dancer or attempting to look like one, limit yourself to wearing only one Dear Baes piece at a time. Pairing a top with jeans or a bottom with a plain black or white T-shirt easily creates a cool, casual look.
Another sportswear brand to look out for this season is Under Armour. The so-called “underdog” of sportswear is (finally!) opening its first store in Thailand this month at Siam Center. Under Armour is known for its aggressive, “owning it” spirit, and its activewear is all about performance enhancement.
Some of the unique features you can expect from Under Armour clothing include sunblock, compression (making your muscles vibrate less, so you don’t waste energy) and Coldblack (black fabric that reflects heat -- great for Thailand).
The brand being so focused on function doesn’t mean it doesn’t have fun with fashion. For active Marvel fans, Under Armour’s new series of Avengers-inspired athletic wear moulds to your body like a superhero’s costume. Even standard tops from U.A. will flaunt your beautiful (muscular) bulges without suffocating them. As for ladies, it’s time to catch up with stylish U.A. sports bras that don’t soak or leave red marks on the skin after a strenuous workout!
Remember, though -- clothing doesn’t have to come from famous sports brand to be considered sportswear. Instead, sportswear is all about being stylish in comfort -- which is why it’s so addictive.
