On Saturday, Pattaya will host the "76 Million People's Hearts In Mourning For The Father Of Thailand" event on Beach Road from 3-7.20pm.
About 50,000 people are expected to join in the tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who jointly won a gold medal with his eldest daughter Princess Ubolratana in the OK dinghy class yacht during the Fourth Southeast Asia Peninsular Games (the present-day SEA Games) in Pattaya on Dec 16, 1967. HM the King often sailed off the coast of Pattaya and built sailboats at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, Pattaya. The club is now a museum to showcase the King's sporting talent.
On Saturday, all will gather and sing the national anthem at 6pm, listen to a speech by Chon Buri governor Phakkhathorn Thianchai, watch a video, sing the song Tree Of The Father and listen to former club chairman Peter Cummins talk about his sailing competition with the King.
From 6.30pm, a procession of the King's portrait on a boat will arrive. At 6.45pm, there will be a moments silence for the King, while musician Thanis Sriklindee will play the royally-composed song The Ultimate Dream on his Thai flute.
Later, all the participants will give an oath of allegiance, light candles, sing songs and the Royal Anthem as led by Thai bands Vie Trio, Jeeb and Khon Krungthep.

Boat show in Pattaya
From Nov 24-27, the "Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show" will take place at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club, Pattaya, from 11am-7pm on Tuesday-Saturday and 11am-6pm on Sunday to showcase Thailand's marine industry to the world.
Thai boat builders and designers, as well as yacht brands from the UK, France, Italy and around the world will display new and used power and sail boats ranging from day cruisers to superyachts.
Also on view will be supercars and superbikes, luxury property, sailing products and services and the demonstration of water sports from jet skis to jetpack flying boards. There will be free daily yacht cruises, kayaking and paddleboat trials for visitors to enjoy.
To honour HM the King, there will be a special exhibition on His Majesty's sailing achievements and historic photos.

Sea of Fog in Phetchaburi
The TAT's Phetchaburi office is promoting trips for people to enjoy the province's natural beauty and the Sea of Fog at Phanoen Thung in Kaeng Krachan National Park, during the cool season.
The place is only accessible with a four-wheel-drive through tunnels of trees on a bumpy route. The road is full of trees, wildlife and butterflies. If visitors are lucky, they will be able to spot deer, hornbills, khang waen (dusky langur monkeys) and various kinds of butterflies.
Kaeng Krachan National Park, covering 2,914.70km², is a major natural resource of Phetchaburi, a watershed of the Pranburi and Phetchaburi rivers, and a habitat for various kinds of wild animals, including elephants and rare freshwater crocodiles and birds. It is one of Thailand's most famous birdwatching spots.
The Phanoen Thung lookout point is closed from Aug 1-Oct 30 and reopens on Nov 1, annually. Motorists are only allowed to ascend the hill from 5.30-7.30am and 1-3pm, and descend from 1-3pm and 4-5pm.
