Pageant season is far from over. After Miss Grand Thailand, Miss Universe Thailand and Miss Tiffany's Universe, apparently the country has yet to run out of major beauty pageants and beautiful ladies to populate them. Right around the corner, we have Miss Thailand World, taking place this week at the Berkeley Hotel Pratunam in Bangkok.
This year, 30 hopeful ladies made it to the final round of the contest, themed "Beauty With A Purpose". They are now in the running to join a long list of talented women who have made their marks in this 33-year-old pageant, from legendary top models like 1992 title-holder Metinee Kingpayome to 1996 title-holder Cindy Bishop to a new generation of idols like Maeya Nonthawan, who was crowned in 2014.
Audiences and pageant fans would notice some familiar faces among this year's contestants from the recent Miss Universe Thailand, who make a comeback to give their pageantry dream another shot. Some of the fan favourites are No.7 Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan and No.27 Aniphan Chalermburanawong (older sister of Aniporn, Miss Universe Thailand 2015). Now, how awesome would that be if two sisters can win two of the biggest beauty pageants in the country?
While some of the girls have had a head start in beauty pageants, newcomers like No.8 Natthanicha Boonpong and No.26 Helena Busch are also stealing fans' hearts left and right.
Root for your favourites in the final two parts of the pageant:
The preliminary round (Wednesday, 7-9pm) will feature shows by the contestants in Thai national costumes, elegant evening gowns, plus talent shows. Winners of the previously run fast-track rounds who possess special talents, runway skills, athletic skills and volunteer spirits will be announced, and they will automatically advance to the top 12. The ruby-and-diamond crown for this year's winner will also be officially unveiled at the event.
The final round (Saturday, 8-11pm) will see the girls taking the stage in swimsuits and yet more sets of evening gowns. Audiences will also be treated to a special performance by members of B5: Suveera "Q" Boonrod and Mariam Grey. At the end of the evening, we'll find out who will become Miss Thailand World 2018. The winning lady will also represent Thailand at the Miss World competition set to take place in China in December.
Live broadcast of the final show will be available on Channel 28.
The Miss Thailand World contest will be held tomorrow and Saturday at the Berkeley Hotel Pratunam. Tickets to the preliminary round on Wednesday and final round on Saturday are 1,000 and 2,000 baht respectively, and can be purchased from thaiticketmajor.com.
