Walk the talk!

Re: "Ex-PM proposes reforms amid global shifts", (BP, Nov 23).

Former PM Thaksin Shinawatra can easily prove that he knows how to run an organisation better than academics -- but will he dare put his money where his mouth is? He incessantly urges the BOT to increase Thailand's cash flow to stimulate consumption, insisting that academics who demand a prior productivity rise to boost GDP are hopelessly isolated from reality.

To prove his logic, Thaksin should unilaterally immediately increase the flow of money from the 10,000 employees of his clan's InTouch Holdings, AIS' parent, by giving them a 20% monthly income raise, equivalent to the minimum wage increase to B400 nationwide that the PM is proposing -- and see how they fare.

Thaksin, show us your success!

Re: "Stop name-calling", (PostBag, Nov 23).

While I agree with Songdej Praditsmanont, on the other hand, Thailand's strict anti-defamatory law allows for unscrupulous and dishonest people to go on and on about their rogue business and dealings without any real fear of their being singled out.

They can have their lawyer threaten the cheated victim with lawsuits, regardless of the full evidence/truth of the alleged offence incurred or risk of it being exposed.

What's the matter?

Re: "Stop name-calling", (PostBag, Nov 23).

Once again Songdej Praditsmanont threatens a regular contributor to PostBag with Thailand's draconian contentious libel laws used by individuals to stifle criticism.

Personally, I didn't think the remarks by Michael Setter or previously by Eric Baht would raise any personal or legal concern in any country apart from Thailand.

Re: "Ukraine attack showcased new missile", (World, Nov 23).

Joe Biden has just allowed the Ukrainians to use the American long-range rockets to strike deep into Russia. That could lead to American soldiers being based in Ukraine.

Sleepy Joe, please stop pulling wool over our eyes! By doing so you are provoking Vladimir Putin to retaliate with nukes. He has just lowered the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons. That will be Armageddon.

Dear old Joe, please retire gracefully and stop escalating the war.

Re: "Prices go bananas", (PostBag, Nov 23) & "Banana taped to wall sells for B215m in New York", (World, Nov 22).

Samanea Saman should stop complaining about the high price of bananas in Thailand. In New York last week a single banana sold for $6.2 million (about 215 million Thai baht).
