Say it correctly

Re: "Govt blamed for Rama II mishaps", (BP, March 18).

There you go again, Post reporters, with your favourite word -- "mishap". I suggest you refer to a dictionary, as to describe the Rama II incident in such a way is, to say the least, extremely disrespectful to those who lost their lives. I doubt their families would see it as such.

Spot the scammers

Re: "Up to 100,000 still working in Myanmar scam hubs", (Online, March 18).

Media would do their readers a service if they would articulate what types of swindles are being perpetrated instead of only talking about the busts.

Example: what sorts of calls or emails are regular people getting from scammers? What sort of BS are the silver-tongued swindlers dishing out in order to suck victims into their ruse? By exposing some of the ruses, the media would protect folks from being swindled.

A month ago, I got swindled online. The opening email had the return address support@paypal.com. I have a PayPal account, so I thought it was genuine. The day after I was swindled, I noticed, directly under the PayPal return address, another email address originating from Europe. In the past weeks, I've been getting emails with the return address emails.paypal.com. I'm more wary now, so I searched that address and found it wasn't PayPal and is likely a scammer. When those sorts of emails arrive, they appear to be 100% legit, with corporate logos, disclaimers, etc.

Be wary, folks. Many scammers are out there, and they're getting craftier, week by week.

SpaceX or Nasa?

Re: "Astronaut crew docks with space station", (World, March 18).

It was great to see the astronauts land safely and leave their capsule, although I will miss the great globe of Suni Williams' hair floating in space. It might never float free again.

I was confused as to where they landed, as one report said they landed in the Gulf of Mexico, while other coverage had them landing in the Gulf of America. It is trivial Trump-based silliness, but what would happen if other places had multiple names and needed to be reached swiftly?

It is also great to see the Nasa brand on extended TV coverage, but how soon will the branding become SpaceX or another company? America should support Nasa and get it back to leading space exploration.

Won't fool the West

Re: "Not good for Thailand", (InQuote, March 19).

That geopolitical expert, Dr Panitan Wattanayagorn, is only polite when he is quoted saying, "It is not good for Thailand if meeting only five or six repatriated Uyghurs." I would extend further that if the Thai delegates had met all 40 repatriates on this trip, it still would not have pacified the West, especially Europeans.

They are not so naïve as not to ask what will happen to the 40 after the Thai delegates return. The only solution satisfactory to the West is for those Thai delegates to stay in Xinjiang with the 40 for life to ensure their safe and fair treatment for the rest of their lives.
