SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION

UOB Thailand’s vision for the future is deeply connected to Thailand’s national sustainability goals, including carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero emissions by 2065. To support these ambitions, UOB Thailand provides green loans and other sustainable finance solutions, helping Thai businesses reduce their environmental impact while staying competitive. In 2023, the bank had achieved 33.1 billion baht in sustainable finance, supporting projects in renewable energy, green buildings, and energy efficiency.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION

UOB Thailand has introduced a suite of sustainability-focused financing solutions, such as U-Drive for electric vehicles, U-Solar to simplify solar energy adoption, and U-Energy, which provides flexible financing options for energy efficiency projects.

Recognising the challenges that SMEs often face in adopting sustainable practices, UOB Thailand collaborated with PwC to launch the UOB Sustainability Compass. This industry-first tool provides a customised roadmap to help businesses set and achieve sustainability goals. Additionally, the Sustainability Innovation Programme (SIP), developed with partners such as the Thailand Development and Research Institute (TDRI) and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO), offers workshops and masterclasses to guide SMEs on their entire Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) journey.

For green technology companies, UOB’s Greentech Accelerator—part of The FinLab—has become a launchpad for solutions in areas like energy efficiency, zero-waste supply chains, and carbon management. Each year, 30 green tech start-ups across ASEAN benefit from funding, mentorship, and access to a valuable network, helping them drive the green transition forward.

Among them is GEPP Sa-ard, a pioneer in data-driven waste solutions aimed to help companies manage their waste more successfully and sustainably.

The company’s co-founder and CMO Dome Boonyanurak credited the programme for the valuable knowledge, expert mentoring and business opportunities.

“Our pilot project at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, one of Thailand’s largest exhibition and convention centres, is a major milestone. We are not just managing waste; we are reshaping sustainable waste management practices for Thailand’s exhibition industry. Thanks to UOB FinLab for helping us accelerate this positive change for the world,” he said.
