Thailand start their campaign in the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group 2 tournament against Turkmenistan in New Zealand on Tuesday.
The official draw for the competition, which runs until Feb 8 in Wellington, was held on Monday.
Eight teams will compete across two pools of four teams each. The winners of each group will square off in a play-off to determine which nation will advance to Asia/Oceania Group I.
The countries participating in the Wellington tournament are the Philippines, Thailand, Guam, Singapore, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Pakistan and New Zealand.
Thailand were drawn in Group B with the Philippines, Turkmenistan and Guam, while Group A comprises Singapore, Pakistan, Mongolia and hosts New Zealand.
Thailand, the seeded team in their group, will next meet the Philippines on Thursday and play their last match of the group stage on Friday against Guam.
Members of the Thai Fed Cup team are Tamarine Tanasugarn, Chompoothip Jundakate, Anchisa Chanta, Watsachol Sawatdee and Tamachan Momkoonthod.
Thailand manager Somsak Rintranurak said he was "quite pleased" with the draw.
"Although we expect a tough battle with the Philippines, we are confident that we can beat all the teams in Group B," said Somsak.
"We are aiming to finish top in our group and even have high hopes of winning the final play-off. We are trying to earn a promotion to play in Asia/Oceania Group I next year.
"Our players now are ready and none of them is injured or sick. Their fitness level is also good as we have been training here for the past three days.
"Every player has now adjusted to the weather without any problems."
