Thailand women's team captain Sunisa Srangthaisong is hopeful of earning a positive result in their second AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament Group B game against China in Sydney on Friday.

The Chaba Kaew, as the team are affectionately known, have been left facing an uphill task in their bid to make it to the Tokyo Games after a 1-0 loss to Taiwan in their first group battle on Monday.

The Chinese squad were quarantined in Brisbane where their movements and ability to train were hampered by precautions related to the coronavirus outbreak.

They finally landed in Sydney on Thursday at lunchtime, but are confident of putting a difficult two weeks behind them and starting their campaign with a positive display against Thailand.

The Chinese are without four initially selected players, including the 2018 AFC Women's Player of the Year Wang Shuang, but Sunisa expects them to put on a typically strong show.

"We are focusing on our team more than China's situation," said Sunisa.

"The thing is, China are China. They are a professional quality team, so all that we can do is think about how we can beat them, and how we can play against them.

"I have personally played against China so many times, both in tournaments and in friendly games, and I think our team can win. We have drawn with them before and I hope in the next game we can do it [again]."

The draw Sunisa referred to came when the Chaba Kaew achieved a 2-2 result against China back in a 2014 friendly. Thailand also had a 2-2 draw against Australia in the 2018 AFC Women's Asian Cup semi-final, before losing on penalties.

The Chaba Kaew play their last group match against Australia on Monday.
