BG Pathum United tightened their grip on the Thai League 1 title as they edged bottom-placed Rayong 1-0 in an away game on Thursday night.

The result gave the Rabbits a massive 19-point lead over second-placed Buriram and Port as their points tally shot up to 60 after 22 matches.

Pathum, promoted to the top flight at the start of the on-going season, have yet to concede a defeat in the league, while Rayong, who look increasingly certain to drop back to the second tier, have not won a single match in their past seven outings.

Pathum's domination of the match was almost complete but their lack of scoring prowess was also as much evident last night.

Pathompol Charoenrattanapirom saw his long shot saved by Rayong goalkeeper Anusit Termmee in the sixth minute, but the talented midfielder made amends in the 28th minute. Irfan Fandi's header crashed into bar and the ball landed in the right spot for Pathompol to score from close range.

Apart from that Pathompol strike, Pathum's game was a story of misses.

Rayong had their chances but shots from Anuchit Ngoenbokkhol and Goshi Okubo were warded off by Pathum goalkeeper Chatchai Butprom.

Meanwhile, True Bangkok United went on a goal-scoring rampage to rout lacklustre Chonburi 5-1.

Pokklaw A-Nan (20th minute), Nattawut Suksum (40th), Thossawat Limwannasathian (51st), Puttinan Wannasri (67th) and Vander Luis (90th+3) scored for the capital side and Jaycee John netted a consolation goal for the visitors in the 88th minute.
