Ratchanok, who won the tournament in 2013 at 18, next plays Zhang Yiman of China who beat 16th seed Kim Ga-Eun of South Korea 21-16, 21-19.
Meanwhile Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai joined their compatriot in the last eight after winning their women's doubles last-16 tie.
The No.6 seeded duo defeated Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki N Reddy of India 21-13, 21-15 to advance.
They face either second seeds Lee So-Hee and Shin Seung-Chen of South Korea or Ng Tsz Yau and Yuen Sin Ying of Hong Kong in the quarter-finals.
However, fellow Thais Puttita Supajirakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai, the 12th seeds, lost to seventh seeds Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida of Japan 15-21, 15-21.
Also, ninth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong bowed out after losing to sixth seed Pusarla V Sindhu of India 14-21, 18-21. Sindhu, the 2019 winner, faces top seed Tai Tzu-ying of Taiwan in today's quarters.
Tai survived a tough test against Kirsty Gilmour, needing three games to overcome the Scotswoman 21-10, 19-21, 21-11.
In another early women's singles last-16 round result, Han Yue of China knocked out 10th Michelle Li of Canada 21-19, 21-19.
Mixed doubles world No.1 pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree were due to face Mathias Thyrri and Mai Surrow of Denmark later last night.
