Taekwondo exponent Chatchawal Khaolaor and badminton star Ratchanok Inthanon were officially recognised by the Sports Writers' Association of Thailand yesterday.

They both enjoyed remarkable success in 2011 and have consequently been chosen as the best male and female amateur athletes of the year.
Ratchanok successfully defended her junior world titles for the third consecutive time while Chatchawal became the first Thai to win a world title at the world championships in South Korea in May.
The best professional athlete award went to the WBC's light flyweight champion Kompayak Por Pramuk who stunned Mexican Adrian Hernadez to win the belt in December.
In the first defence of his title last week, Kompayak unimpressively but successfully retained his belt with a win over Jonathan Taconning.
Pen-ek Sitnumnoi won the best Muay Thai fighter award while amateur golfing sisters Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn were the female youth and junior athletes of 2011 respectively.
In the men's division, swimmer Nattapong Ket-in won the youth award while Puwich Anupansuebsai was successful in the junior section.
In the disabled athletes section, Krisana Chorchui and Sakorn Khantasit won the respective male and female awards.
Kompayak's trainer Chatchai Sasakul received the best professional trainer award while volleyball coach Kiattipong Ratchatakriengkrai was crowned the best amateur.
The Takraw Association of Thailand was named the best sports association.
