Thailand will send its biggest ever contingent to the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, next month.
A total of 130 athletes and officials will head to China to take part in Harbin 2025, which will take place from Feb 7-14, said governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand Gongsak Yodmani.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra will likely visit Thai athletes during the tournament and watch some events involving Thai athletes, added the SAT governor.
Apart from the men's and women's ice hockey teams, Thailand will send the national curling team to Harbin 2025, marking their first ever appearance in the regional tournament.
"PM Paetongtarn is an avid supporter of Thai sports. She will be in Beijing during that period and will later travel to Harbin along with deputy prime minister Suriya Juengrungruengkit and Tourism and Sports minister Surawong Thienthong to visit Thai athletes and watch some of the events," said Gongsak.
Harbin 2025 will feature 64 events in 11 sports. Organisers are expecting 1,200 athletes from 35 countries.
Thailand will send athletes from four sports associations -- the Figure and Speed Skating Association of Thailand, the Curling Association of Thailand, the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand and the Ski and Snowboard Association of Thailand.
