Thailand Game Show (TGS) 2022, the biggest game fair in Asean, will provide two new zones for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse, in a bid to capture the surging popularity of these digital realms and create new business opportunities for game-related enterprises.
The event will be operated under the concept of "Come Back", following the easing of pandemic restrictions.
The fair will be held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) from Oct 21-23, with TGS's organiser predicting more than 180,000 attendees, which could fetch 300 million baht in revenue.
Torboon Puangmaha, managing director of Online Station, a gaming digital media business and influencer network under True Digital Group, said his company has organised Thailand Game Show events for the past 17 years.
This year Online Station is holding the event in conjunction with Show No Limit, a business show organiser.
The two new dedicated zones, one for NFTs and the other for the metaverse, will capitalise on the growing popularity of cryptocurrency.
The show also has a business matching zone, which will connect game publishers, developers, media and agencies to explore new business opportunities.
"TGS will make a significant contribution to the quest to establish Thailand as Southeast Asia's gaming hub," Mr Torboon said.
He said the event will help promote gaming-related careers and enterprises, such as gamers, e-sport athletes, game content creators and game developers, thereby increasing their international prominence.
Pongsuk Hiranprueck, chief executive of Show No Limit, said the event will unveil the first collection of Thailand Game Show NFTs, created by renowned artists and influencers.
The gaming zone and lifestyle zone are still the backbone of the show, he said, adding that attendees can explore new games, gaming gear, IT items and cosplayers.
