The male teacher at Suankularb Witthayalai School accused of posting video clips and pictures on the internet of himself having sex with male youths committed a serious breach of professional discipline, an initial investigation has found.
Karoon Sakulpradit, secretary-general of the Office of the Basic Education Commission, said Thursday an Obec fact-finding committee initially concluded there were sufficient grounds to believe the 33-year-old biology teacher Sarot Meephai had violated the code of ethics of the education profession.
The Teachers Council of Thailand’s Professional Ethics Committee was also investigating Mr Sarot’s case and would determine his punishment soon.
Mr Sarot faces being dismissed and barred from teaching if the committee decides to revoke his licence, Mr Karoon said.
The teacher’s council has already suspended Mr Sarot’s licence pending an investigation.
Many clips of sexual acts involving Mr Sarot and youths believed to be male school students were posted on Twitter by a user named k@uhbbjhbj. The account was found to belong to Mr Sarot. It has since been closed.
Mr Sarot has denied having sex with students from his school or any other school. The young males in the clips were sex partners he had met online and all of them were more than 20 years old, he said.
He claimed he gave his Twitter username and password to other people and they posted the images and videos in question online.
Mr Sarot is facing charges under the Computer Crime Act, for importing and sharing obscene content on a computer system.
