TAK - Authorities in Mae Sot district of this northern border province opposite Myanmar's Myawaddy are keeping a close watch on the Moei River's water level as heavy rain has been predicted all over the region.

Tak governor Charoenrit Sanguansat (in pink shirt) inspect the water level of the Moei River on Wednesday.
Thanayos Pankhao, the Mae Sot distric chief, and Thoedkiat Chinsoranan, the Mae Sot mayor, on Wednesday morning inspected the Moei River in Mae Sot district as the water level was rising alarmingly.
Mr Charoenrit said the water in the Moei River was about 5m high, and not at a critical level. However, officials would monitor the water level as Mae Sot town, which is situated in a low-lying area, is prone to flooding.
As a precaution, business operators at the Moei riverside market in Mae Sot had begun to move their goods to high ground.
The governor said the situation in Phop Phra, Mae Ramat and Tha Song Yang districts along the border with Myanmar would also be put on high alert for possible flooding.
