NAKHON RATCHASIMA - A luxuriant tunnel of trees arching above a kilometre or more of the road between Phimai and Chumphuang districts is attracting a large number of visitors keen to capture its beauty on camera.
The leafy tunnel between kilometre markers 17-18 is where a small road branches off to Ban Nong Chik village in tambon Bot in Phimai district.
There, the two rows of trees arch over the Phimai - Chumphuang road to form a tunnel, giving motorists a exhilarating drive through beautiful greenery.
Pattana Duangphimai, 60, of Ban Nong Chick, said the ma kha mong trees that form the tunnel were planted by villagers more than 30 years ago long both sides of the road. They have protected the trees ever since, ensuring they were not felled.
Their endeavour has paid off as pictures of this glorious tree tunnel are being widely shared on social media.
The tunnel has also become a popular spot for pre-wedding photos, she said.
