PHNOM PENH - Police in Cambodia have announced the arrest of a British man suspected of involvement in the murder of Tony Kenway in the Thai beach resort of Pattaya.
Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Chhay Sinarith confirmed the arrest of Toby James Nelhams, who was taken to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Wednesday for questioning.
It is the first time that Cambodian authorities have confirmed the arrest.
Mr Nelhams is one of three men sought by Thai police in the Jan 24 murder of Tony Kenway by a gunman as he sat in his parked Porsche in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri.
Kenway's widow described him as a web developer but it has been reported he had connections with a gambling website and an investment "boiler room", among other activities.
The suspected gunman and his accomplice fled to Koh Kong province in Cambodia through a checkpoint in Trat's Khlong Yai district late the same day. They are Abel Cadeira Bonito, a South African, and Miles Dicken Turner, a Briton.
Mr Bonito is accused of being the man who pulled the trigger and Mr Turner drove him away on a motorcycle. They were seen leaving the scene on CCTV footage. They had entered Thailand from Cambodia through the same checkpoint they left.
Thai police sources said Mr Nelham is suspected of masterminding the murder.
They expected their Cambodian counterparts to hand him over to Thailand last weekend, but it did not happen.
