A python slipped into a 7-11 convenience store in Sri Racha district in Chon Buri, rapidly becoming a social media sensation.
Staff at the shop at Bo Yang intersection on Sunday summoned the Sawang Pratheep Rescue Foundation for assistance after spotting the four-metre-long snake in front of one of its refrigerators.
Rescuers took only about five minutes to restrain the reptile, placing it in a fertiliser bag before releasing it into the wild.
Store staff believed that the python may have simply slithered through the front door without being noticed.
After the foundation reported the operation on its Facebook account, the post drew a slew of comments. "My god!!! How did it get in there?" one asked.
"It might be peckish for steam buns," another suggested.
"7-11 sells snakes, too," one commentator wrote.
Some asked for additional information in time for the next lottery draw on Monday. "I want to know the branch number," wrote one poster on the social media account.
It was unclear whether staff followed 7-11 protocol by telling the departing reptile to come back again at its next opportunity.
There were no reports that the snake was assaulted by a security guard after it failed to show proof of accommodation and an intention to return to the wild after visiting the shop.
