
KHON KAEN: Khon Kaen airport will raise its daily number of domestic flights from 21 to 26 during Songkran and expects to welcome 2,500 passenger arrivals per day.
Airport director Athaya Larpmak said on Monday that airlines have finalised their flight schedules for the holiday period, and the airport will serve 26 flights per day, or 52 landings and takeoffs. Currently, there are 21 flights to this northeastern province per day, or 42 landings and takeoffs.
THAI Airways International, Thai AirAsia and THAI Smile Airways have all agreed to increase the number of domestic flights to Khon Kaen between April 9 and 17, said the airport director. THAI and Thai AirAsia have added the most flights, on the Don Mueang-Khon Kaen route.
Passengers have also begun booking the additional flights on the Khon Kaen-Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen-Hat Yai, Khon Kaen-U Tapao and Khon Kaen-Phuket routes.
He expected that at least 2,500 passengers per day would arrive at Khon Kaen airport during the holiday period.
