A woman yesterday lodged a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) against a doctor and a privately run hospital in Bangkok over the death of her 45-year-old husband who died hours after seeking medical treatment.
In the complaint, Kingkan Muenharn, 38, accused the doctor and the hospital of recklessness which caused the death of her husband, Supachai Athiphak, a 45-year-old electrical engineer who died on Oct 6 after a visit to the hospital.
According to the complaint, Supachai went to the hospital on Oct 6 with chest pains and weakness in his left arm. He also claimed to be tired and have breathing difficulties.
Supachai was told that his symptoms were likely caused by stomach ulcers and he was given medication to alleviate the symptoms. He was observed for an hour and released even though his condition had not improved.
Later that night, Supachai went into cardiac arrest and died before emergency services arrived, according to Ms Kingkan. His body was sent for an autopsy at Thammasat Hospital in Pathum Thani's Rangsit which determined ischemic heart disease as the cause of death.
Ms Kingkan said her husband's death was due to recklessness. She said she has asked the hospital for Supachai's medical records and was told her request would take a week to process.
