Cops stumble on pill stash

Narcotics suppression police have seized 122,000 smuggled methamphetamine pills found behind bushes on a roadside in Na Wa district of Nakhon Phanom.

Pol Lt Gen Charoenwit Sriwanich, commissioner of Provincial Police Region 4, told reporters yesterday patrols had been increased following information that smuggling across the Mekong from Laos is increasing.

On Monday a patrol found a fertiliser sack behind bushes on the side of a road between Unyang Kham and Unna villages in tambon Na Wa. The sack held 22 packages containing about 122,000 meth pills in total, with a street value of about 30 million baht.
