Pathum Thani: Police have raided a factory in Lam Luk Ka district where used rubber gloves were being packed and passed off as new.
Assistant national police chief Permpoon Chidchob said yesterday the raid netted items worth at least 100 million baht, including used gloves, 30,000 boxes and other products.
When police arrived they found workers sorting out the gloves that had been stuffed into more than 600 sacks. They would then pack the gloves for delivery to customers.
Supattra Boonserm, deputy secretary-general of Food and Drug Administration (FDA), said the trade in gloves had been spurred by the second round of Covid-19 infections.
Producers and sellers of substandard medical supplies and equipment are liable to a jail term of up to three years, a maximum 300,000 baht fine or both.
