NAKHON RATCHASIMA: A sudden, violent storm hit several villages in tambon Kut Chok of Bua Yai district on Monday afternoon, causing damage to about 20 houses, school buildings and a temple.

The storm winds blew down several structures and left many fallen trees obstructing roads between villages.

Ban Oychang School in tambon Kut Chok was hard hit, losing its entire roof. Major damage was also reported to the mess hall of Wat Nong Siang Khong and about 20 houses.

Phubet Taensris said he and his wife were in their house when the storm winds hit, followed by heavy rain for about ten minutes. The top of his house collapsed on top of them. Fortunately, they were not hurt.

Local officials arrived in the area on Tuesday morning to examine and assess the damage, and begin providing assistance.
