Ride hailing gets private car boost

The cabinet has approved a draft ministerial regulation that paves the way for the use of personal vehicles for ride-hailing services with apps, something which has never been legally recognised by the government before.

The move is also a boon for ride-hailing service provider Grab, which has pushed for it for years.

Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said the change is expected to be finalised in about a month from now.
