Most parents are concerned about the possible side effects of Covid-19 vaccination in their young children, a survey by the Education Ministry found.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said a nationwide online survey by the Education Ministry of 26,793 parents of children aged five to 12 years, from Feb 14-18, found that 65.1% of them were most concerned about possible side effects of the vaccine.

The survey also found 17.5% were most worried about responsibility for undesirable symptoms in vaccinated children, 7% about vaccine efficacy, 4.9% about their children's health before inoculation and 0.3% about difficult procedures for vaccination, while 5.2% expressed no concerns.

Of the respondents, 58.6% wanted their children to be vaccinated, 22.6% did not, and 18.8% remained undecided.

Asked about preferred venues for vaccination, 60.8% wanted it done at schools, 29.1% at hospitals and 10.1% at service units.

Asked about their preferred Covid-19 testing methods for their children, 71.8% wanted saliva tests, 23.9% nasal swabs, 2.2% blood tests and 2.1% no tests.
