A Cypriot man has been arrested for allegedly trespassing at night to stalk his ex-Thai girlfriend.
The arrest was made under a warrant issued by Nakhon Pathom Provincial Court, accusing him of trespassing and property damage during the night.
No further details were given about his crime.
The suspect was later identified only as Nicholas (surname withheld), 36.
Police said he was caught in the Ratchathewi area on Thursday night when he returned to the hostel he was staying at around 9pm.
On arrest, Nicholas admitted that he was the man named on the arrest warrant, but he said this was his first arrest related to the case, according to police.
During a search, authorities found a stamp from the Cypriot consulate in Thailand, which they suspected to be counterfeit.
The stamp was seized for further investigation as immigration police coordinated with the Cypriot consulate to expand the probe.
Initially, the suspect admitted that he often sneaked into his ex-girlfriend's condominium, waiting in common areas such as the lobby and tampering with the automatic door downstairs.
Police said his repeated actions led the victim to file a complaint, which resulted in the issuance of the arrest warrant for him.
The arrest was part of an order issued by Immigration Bureau chief Pol Lt Gen Itthipol Itthisanronnachai to beef up inspections in high-risk areas to locate foreigners on the wanted list who are suspected of having committed crimes in the country.
