Pattani bomb injures soldiers

Four military rangers were injured in a motorcycle bomb explosion in Pattani late Sunday afternoon, reports said.

The three were Capt Amnuay Piandee, 47, commander of Rangers Platoon No 431 and paramilitary rangers Chaichana Yiamtan, 22, and Thanathip Yothin, 31.

The home-made bomb, hidden inside a motorcycle parked on the Pattani-Yala Highway No.418 in moo 4 in tambon Korlortanyong, was detonated when the pickup truck carrying the three officers was passing by.

The three sustained shrapnel wounds to their bodies and were admitted to Yala Central Hospital.
The bomb heavily damaged the driver’s side of the pickup. Police blamed separatist militants.
