An Anti-Money-Laundering Office (Amlo) investigation committee has agreed to return a Lamborghini to an actor who bought the car from a key suspect in the 1.474-billion-baht embezzlement scandal of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL).
Amlo chief Seehanat Prayoonrat said yesterday the committee found the purchase of the luxury car belonging to Parkorn “Boy” Chatborirak was legal.
In March, Amlo’s committee decided to confiscate the car from Mr Pakorn who said he bought it from Kittisak Muttija — a key suspect in the KMITL embezzlement scandal — for 13.5 million baht just two months after Mr Kittisak had purchased it.
Mr Kittisak runs a group of seven companies, owns assets worth about 700 million baht and sold three luxury cars which police believe were linked to attempts to launder money.
Earlier, Mr Pakorn submitted proof of ownership documents to Amlo to show he did not know Mr Kittisak in person and had nothing to do with his alleged money-laundering activities.
