A pork vendor and his wife were shot dead in an ambush on a road in Nong Chik district of Pattani on Thursday morning, police said.
The attack about 6.45am on Bo Thong - Yabi road near Hutae Bongo village in tambon Pulo Puyo while Suibee Chuchuaykham, 69, and his wife Nualsri Na Takuapa, 62, were travelling in a small truck, selling pork.
Gunmen hiding on the roadside opened fire at them with war weapons, killing them instantly, and then fled.
Police were investigating.
