The rainy season began on May 18 when southwesterly winds started to prevail over the country and the Gulf of Thailand, bringing moisture from the Andaman Sea, Meteorological Department chief Wanchai Sak-udomchai said on Monday.
Mr Wanchai said, however, that the rain in the beginning of the season will be intermittent. The density of rain will increase in the second half of the season.
The rainy season will end around mid-October, he said.
However, in the South, especially along the eastern coast, rain will continue until December.
