National Artist Juree Osiri died of old age at her home in Chiang Rai province last night. She was 83.
The body of the veteran actress will be moved to Wat Makutkasatariyaram in Bangkok this afternoon for funeral rites.
A bathing rite will be held at the temple tomorrow at 5pm.
Mrs Juree has a long entertainment career as an actress and voice-over artist, and singer in her own right.
She received a number of top awards for dubbing Thai films and for her performances in television dramas.
Ms Juree was named national artist in the field of acting and film dubbing in 1998.
She is survived by Noppol Komarachun, a well-known actor, director and producer, who is her only son from her first marriage with Samer. After the death of Samer, Mrs Juree remarried and spent the next 50 years of her life with Somchai Samipak, who died on Jan 5, 2009.
