From 11-14 February 2021, only at ICONSIAM Charoen Nakhon Road
ICONSIAM, the world’s iconic landmark beside the Chaophraya River, is preparing to celebrate one of the most highly respected annual events of the Thai-Chinese community with ‘THE ICONSIAM ETERNAL PROSPERITY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2021’. The celebrations feature a marvellous Chinese garden filled with bright red lanterns and adorned with auspicious zodiac animals all across ICONSIAM’s signature 1,000 sqm grounds at River Park by Chaophraya River.
Besides the specially created garden, visitors are welcome to pay respects and receive blessings from three gods, Huatuo Xianshi (God of Medicine), Tai Sui (God of the Year), and Tsai Shen Yeh (God of Wealth), at Dibayavari Vihara Temple. Wide selections of offering items include clothes, jewellery, food and traditional confectionery and décor accessories from various stores. All to celebrate the Year of the Ox, from 11-14 February 2021 at ICONSIAM, Charoen Nakhon Road.
ICONSIAM’s Managing Director Supoj Chaiwatsirikul expressed his excitement regarding the festive event, saying: “As ICONSIAM is situated on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, beside the Chaophraya River, we share a rich history with the locals. This is especially so with the Thai-Chinese communities of Khlong San – Din Daeng and Kudichin where many Thai-Chinese residents live. We are proud to bring these communities together and to celebrate their traditions and heritage, we are blessed to summon three gods of Dibayavari Vihara Temple, namely Huatuo Xianshi (God of Medicine), Tai Sui (God of the Year), and Tsai Shen Yeh (God of Wealth) to grant blessings to Thai-Chinese communities and everyone. Moreover, 18 shops have united to sell various offering items and auspicious goods, including qipao dresses from HERGUR and Carisa, gold accessories from Somsamai, jade jewellery from Morakot, auspicious gold leaf paintings from Ariya-Sattha, and traditional confectionery from various shops at Charoen Nakhon Hall, M fl.”
Meanwhile at SOOKSIAM, G Fl., visitors can shop a multitude of auspicious goods and gift items for their loved ones in the ‘Sukhee Pee Heng’ (Great Joy) space, including clothing, traditional foods, and gifts representing Chinese heritage. Moreover, as Valentine’s is celebrated around the same time, several other favourite stores get involved at SOOKSIAM. They range from bird’s nest, cordyceps and orchid roots hamper sets from Vejpong Pharmacy, to original tofu pudding in ginger syrup from Dhalaa. In SOOKSIAM zones 1 and 2, visitors can select authentic bao buns and dim sum from Khun Wen whose decades-old recipes are favourites, along with food offerings such as steamed duck and chicken, and fruits as well as auspicious home décor items.
Beyond the food and auspicious items, visitors will absolutely not wish to miss out on photo check-in spots at River Park beside the Chaophraya River. Here you can witness the incredible beauty of the Chinese garden, decorated with bright lanterns arranged in various shapes, including peonies that symbolise prosperity, and auspicious animals such as peacocks and cranes, and mythical figures such as phoenixes which represent auspicious values and meanings, all strung across ICONSIAM’s grand space covering 1,000 sqm.
According to legend, the curve of the underbelly of the dragon, which represents prosperity, is where the dragon stores its energy. At ICONSIAM Park, 2 Fl., the Chinese garden is set to welcome guests with lavishly embellished lanterns of nine dragon offspring, a staple animal of prosperity for the Chinese community. Alongside are lanterns printed with prosperity-invoking words such as joy, wealth, stability, and success. All from today until 20 March 2021.
