
IRPC acted in accord with the government’s policy, investing 13,300 million Baht to improve the refinery efficiency and Diesel quality to achieve Euro V standards. The project strengthens the company’s core competency, saves the environment and reduces the particle pollution including PM 2.5. The commencement of plant operation is expected in 2024.
Mr. Chawalit Tippawanich, President and Chief Executive Officer of IRPC Public Company Limited or IRPC said that the Board of Directors approved the investment in the refinery efficiency and Diesel quality improvement to comply with Euro V standards or Ultra Clean Fuel Project (UCF) in accordance with the Ministry of Energy’s policy determining that Diesel distribution must meet Euro V standards from 1 January 2024 onwards. The project would reduce the particle pollution especially PM 2.5 and complies with the company’s strategy to enhance long-term competitive advantage.
The Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) has been granted by the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP).
Mr. Tippawanich also said, “The investment cost is approximately 13,300 million Baht and the commencement of plant operation is expected in early 2024. Once the project is complete, the company will be able to efficiently convert the entire high-sulfur Diesel to low-sulfur Diesel following Euro V standards.
The project is one another successful step of environmentally friendly business. The fuel sulfur level reduction will help achieve real-world emission reductions including carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, nitrogen oxide and particle matters. As such, the atmospheric emissions decrease and most importantly, it reduces the risks of health issues.
