BANGKOK, Thailand – ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Khorat Inc (EMEPKI) has extended a gas sales agreement with PTT Public Company Limit to supply natural gas for 10 years from 2021 to 2031. The company delivers a maximum of 17 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
“This gas sales agreement and our earlier concession extension with the Thai government reflects our long-term commitment to Thailand,” said ExxonMobil Thailand Lead Country Manager Dr. Adisak Jangkamolkulchai. “As the leading producer with more than 40 years of onshore natural gas experience in the Northeastern region of Thailand, we are dedicated to work with the government, PTT and joint operators to serve the country’s growing energy needs and provide a reliable supply of energy for the future.”
“We have a proven record of safe and reliable operations,” said EMEPKI Vice President Mr. Chatchawarn Hongchareunthai. “We are honored to have earned continued trust from the Thai government, joint operators and communities to deliver clean energy for another 10 years.”
Produced natural gas from the Nam Phong and Sin Phu Horm fields will be delivered to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to provide electricity to more than 1 million homes in northeast Thailand, increasing job opportunities and economic expansion. The gas will also be used as a transportation fuel at natural gas vehicle stations.
EMEPKI has been operating the onshore Nam Phong gas field since 1979. In March, the company signed the production concession extension with the Thai government. Another joint production concession agreement was achieved for the Sin Phu Horm gas field in Udorn Thani province, located adjacent to the Nam Phong gas field.
