Rapid technological changes and new lifestyles stemming from the Covid-19 epidemic are a challenge that banking businesses must adapt to. The Government Savings Bank (GSB) therefore sees an opportunity to upgrade services to meet the digital lifestyles of customers with “GSB Metaverse”, the first virtual bank in Thailand that pioneers a new experience in the virtual world.
Vitai Ratanakorn, CEO, GSB, said, “GSB Metaverse is another step taken that elevates our services to satisfy the digital demands of our customers, including expansion of various digital financial services such as digital loans, deposits and GSB lottery. Going forward, GSB Metaverse will serve as a space for sharing experiences and knowledge, connecting the virtual world to the real world.”
The first phase of GSB Metaverse was launched in May this year comprising three highlight zones. GSB’s Krapook History is a three-dimensional virtual art museum displaying rare models of piggy banks from past to present. Every aspect is covered in detail and each piggy bank has an interesting story created by the bank for various occasions over its 87 year history.
Krapook x Artist showcases exclusive piggy banks in the form of digital art. The piggy banks, which can only be viewed at GSB Metaverse, feature special patterns. The collection includes designs by well-known artists in the digital art field, including Panpat Techamethakul, Thanachai Utchin, Chumphon Wongtikul, Weerachai Duangpla, Natchaphon Tusangiam, and Tripak Supawatthana.
Visitors to Krapook Gift will also gain access to various promotions, privileges, and special activities by GSB, including the right to receive a special Metaverse Piggy Bank from the collection created by the famous digital artists. During the opening period, there is also the opportunity to open an exclusive deposit account with step-up interest rates of up to 10.90%. Each zone in the GSB Metaverse features fun activities and a chance for customers to collect coins every day.
“The first phase was very well-received by the public,” said Mr. Vitai. “It’s truly a success story!”
In another key move, GSB achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2013 recertification for excellent management and maintenance of its information system security. This is the second time GSB has been certified, after gaining its original certification in 2019 when it was the first organisation in Thailand to do so.
GSB has also received an award for Best Bank for Savings and Fundamental Economy Promotion from Siamrath Online for the 2nd consecutive year. The award cited GSB’s outstanding achievements in promoting savings policy and measures to help organisations in the public sector.
GSB has also been crowned Thailand’s Most Admired Brand 2022 in a nationwide consumer survey by BrandAge magazine which designated GSB as the most trusted state-owned specialised bank.
“We are proud of these achievements and they are good morale boosters for our staff to continue cultivating a role as a social bank while driving more developments going forward.”
