The event was focused on cleaning the area and waste management to collect, separate, and gather the waste as well as reiterating the intention of social responsibility towards nature and environment and helping stimulate tourism.
With cooperation from several sections, more than 100 people attended the event. The attendees included executives and voluntary employees of SPRC, officers from government agencies, private sectors, new generations of youths, teachers and students from Kohkaewpissadan School, and general people who are environment conservationists.
Mr. Pongkorn Chochuwong, Manager of Process Safety and QEHS of Star Petroleum Refining Public Company Limited, explained that the “Beach Clean Up” was held after “Samed in Love” concert on 29 October 2022. He said its main objectives were to administrate waste management both in the water and on the beach. “The activity reflects the intention of Rayong province to support its tourism with public responsibility to society, nature, and environment,” he said. “It also reveals a clean and safe beach and underwater to attract more tourists and get in line with the new trend of carbon neutral events. SPRC supports the event by having volunteer employees attend and providing a budget of 300,000 baht for the waste management.”
As a carbon neutral event, the campaign was derived from several activities and events fighting against the greenhouse gas emissions that are the major cause of global warming. With the awareness of world communities, guidelines to solve the global warming effect were created under the theme of “Low Carbon Society.”
SPRC encourages people to use natural resources wisely through various cultural development activities, including reducing usage of private cars, using environment-friendly materials, reducing pollution in the environment from activities, and others. This promotes reduction of energy consumption both directly and indirectly and leads to a sustainable Low Carbon Society.
